Gerald Lee Hicks was born in Chicago, Illinois. In his high-school days, Lee was selected to the Chicago All-City football team and to the All-Northern Illinois football team and served as captain of his high-school’s wrestling team. He graduated from Quinnipiac University School of Law in Connecticut, where he was an Associate Editor of a law journal, a member of the Law School’s trial competition team, and graduated with honors.
